Mixtape: Pierce Fulton – Get Weird #002

Pushing the boundaries of his craft like few other of his age, Pierce Fulton returns to the forefront of eclectic club stylings with episode two of his ”Get Weird” mix series. In another sturdy dash across the borders of Electronic Dance Music, fresh instalments such as Denzal Park’s ‘Amarok‘ and Fehrplay’s ‘Incognito‘ are joined by fresh remix duties from A-Trak and Lenno to embrace the scattered club stylings that have championed young Fulton on his industrious ascent. For round two of his Tiësto approved radio installment, Fulton remains as dexterous as ever in the name of quality Dance music.

Release: Inpetto – Yuccasin [Doorn]

German Progressive outfit Inpetto has proven something of a storm amid Europe’s tough yet melodic uprising of brazen club mongers.

But having set their standard to an all time high for sturdy collaborative duties for Kaskade’s renowned ”Fire and Ice” album, the duo unite with Dutch peers Sander Van Doorn’s Doorn Records to part with their latest floor filler ‘Yuccasin’. Delicate layering uplifting synth work and progressive chord play, the duos apex comes in the form of an overtly uplifting explosion of dynamic leads and steady beat work for this seemingly upbeat installment for the renowned Spinnin offshoot. Despite the significant resurgence of perky peak timers that always do the rounds for the summer season, Inpetto prove a sever cut above the mark with yet another quality production in the name of fine German Dance music.

Release: Joachim Pastor – Farouest [Mistakes]

Never one to conform to the more common realms of modern Dance music, label regular Joachim Pastor continues to make headway with yet another triumphant release off of the longstanding imprint of Sébastien Léger. While 2012 has spelt nothing but promise for all organic club mongers, the full-bloomed summer season sees the Parisian drop ‘Farouest’ on Mistakes Music to hit home the organic vibes that have championed his formative career. In a mixture of playful harmonica, ambiguous vocals and crisp percussions, Pastor’s frisky approach to House music makes for further indications that among the times of industrious evolution, Electronic music with creative soul still exists amid the European movement.

Free Download: TV Rock feat. Dino – Save Me Now [Neon]

With such Axtone classics as ‘Been A Long Time’ and ‘In The Air’ under their belts, Grant Smillie and Ivan Gough, also known as TV Rock, have always been a musical force to be reckoned with.

But having first crossed paths with Dino Lenny when remixing ‘Feels Like Home’ alongside Dirty South back in 2007, the Aussie duo reunite with the renowned London singer for their first original cut in 2012. Representing their own Neon Records, Smillie and Gough blend cacophonic lead play and Dino’s deep vocals with acid-esque synths and infectious drum lines for yet another potent addition to their belts in ‘Save Me Now’. With a further original release alongside Zoë Badwi entitled ‘Bloom’ set for release in August, TV Rock follow up last year’s acclaimed ‘Diamonds In The Sky’ with a track generously given away for the price of a ‘like’.

Release: Julio Bashmore – Au Seve

Bristol’s Mathew Walker, more formally associated with his bass-heavy House alias Julio Bashmore, has taught the industry a thing or two about vintage club stylings. But amid his underground accession and countless instalments of organic club wizardry, his debut label endeavour Broadwalk Records launches into the haze of the summer season with ‘Au Seve’.

Dismissing the more predictable avenues of Deep House that have pervaded 2012, the subtle analogue flares and infectiously cut vocal samples forge something of a twisted 21st century take on the earlier low-end acid explosion that evidently cultivated the UK and Walker alike. Quality intact and as infectious as ever, Julio Bashmore’s latest double-barrel industry endeavour acts as a refreshing call of hope to the British Dance music industry amid a year otherwise dominated by the states.

Apart from his forthcoming release alongside Nicky Romero titled ‘Sparks‘, Hot Mouth’s soon-to-be-released effort ‘Totally Worth It‘ with Chris James and Wolfgang Gartner’s ‘Flexx‘ top off the latest ”Dark Light Sessions” with utmost ease.

Preview: Animal Kingdom – Strange Attractor (Dzeko & Torres Remix)

With every possible avenue of modern music dipping its paws into the alleged 21st century club revolution, it seemed safe to assume that ambient Indie outfit Animal Kingdom were far of the mark of a club-orientated facelift. Ontario’s Julian Dzeko and Luis Torres, however, had other ideas.

Buffering their rising reputation for off-the-cuff remix duties, the Canadian duo take on the aforementioned trios latest single ‘Strange Attractor’ cut straight from the loins of their second studio album. As farfetched as it sounds on paper, Dzeko and Torres use their melodic intellect to utilise the divine vocal assets of ‘Strange Attractor’ without so much as a hint of misplaced emotion. Driving eccentric lead work through the notably restrained twists and turns of this official remix, the expanding fate of eccentric Dance crossovers looks exceedingly promising in the hands of this rising Canadian duo and their fearless approach to remixing.

Due for release soon free of charge.

Mixtape: Moguai – Punx Up The Volume #042

In the wake of his full-length ”Mpire” album for Deadmau5’s Mau5trap imprint, versatile German André Tegeler, better known to the world as Moguai, continues to push quality music through his monthly ”Punx Up The Volume” podcast. For episode 42, Moguai brings a diverse selection of tunes together before rounding things off smoothly with Pan Pot’s ‘tribute to life’ remix of Slam’s ‘Lifetimes’. The mix includes the likes of Fehrplay’s ‘Incognito‘, Arty’s ‘Open Space‘, Wolfgang Gartner’s ‘Flexx‘ as well as Zedd’s ‘Spectrum‘ taken from his forthcoming first artist album.

Tracklist:

01. Fehrplay – Incognito [Pryda Friends]
02. Arty – Open Space [Anjunabeats]
03. Zedd feat. Matthew Koma - Spectrum [Interscope]
04. Wolfgang Gartner – Flexx [Ultra]

09. Eva Simons – I Don’t Like You (Nicky Romero Remix) [Interscope]
10. Massimo Santucci – Flowquency [Flowquency]
11. Wally Lopez – Keep Running The Melody (Moguai Instrumental Remix) [EMI]
12. Slam – Lifetimes (Pan-Pot ‘Tribute To Life’ Remix) [Soma]

Preview: Mercer & Mystique – Here Comes That Sound [Spinnin]

Hot on the heels from the release of ‘Sausage‘ alongside Amro, Belgium’s Mystique combines forces with Paris-based Mercer for their unquestionably biggest release to date. A multifaceted production in its own right, ‘Here Comes That Sound’ boasts a neoteric mixture of bass-filled, heavyset beats, melodic leads and a vocal line more reminiscent of that of a chunky Tech House production. Joining in alongside the likes of Tommy Trash and Digitalism’s ‘Falling‘, Mystique and Mercer’s cross-nation effort ‘Here Comes That Sound’ brings yet more fuel to Spinnin’ Records’ on-going onslaught of eccentric cuts for a summer deemed as the club music scene’s biggest one thus far.

Set for release July 30th.

Preview: Andre Sobota – Voyager [Pryda Friends]

Coming off the Pete Tong-approved remix of Coldplay and Rihanna’s ‘Princess Of China‘, Sao Paulo-based Andre Sobota provides us with a taste of the A-side of his forthcoming debut release on Eric Prydz’s Pryda Friends label. As premiered amid the second episode of Prydz’s recently launched EP/IC Radio podcast, ‘Voyager’ will alongside the yet to be unveiled ‘Found’ see Sobota formally join Fehrplay as the second of Pryda Friends’ two newly signed label talents. Reminiscent of the graceful manner in which Prydz has tirelessly racked up a string of timeless offerings during his many years on the beat, ‘Voyager’ reeks of emotive vibes and deep melodics that could easily have been mistaken for a longstanding House veteran.

The ‘Voyager’ EP will be released July 9th via Pryda Friends.

Preview: Wolfgang Gartner – Casual Encounters of the 3rd Kind EP

It has been many moons since Wolfgang Gartner first enveloped the scene with his tectonic Electro stylings, but amid a year that has seen him circle Electronic music’s most sought after avenues the American club grinder returns to set the record straight with ”Casual Encounters of the 3rd Kind EP.” Where his studio output has proven as resilient as it is varied for 2012, the EPs two offerings hit remarkably close to the roots of Gartner’s heavyset origins. With ‘Girl On Girl’ dipping into the vintage appeal of early House with a strong Electro twist, ‘Girl On Boy’ extends the drive of his familiar grinding chord play with a heavyset twist of sturdy lead work. In spite of speculation that his sound was taking a turn to the calmer shores of Electronic music, Gartner provides a heartfelt bid towards the less predictable realms of his craft with a double-sided leap forward for the increasingly popular sub genre.

Preview: The Temper Trap – Trembling Hands (Benny Benassi Remix)

While 2009’s ‘Sweet Disposition’ proved as popular track to the club floor as it did the charts, new age Australian Rock outfit The Temper Trap tap into the all-embracing Dance music explosion with a high-profile remix offering of their ‘Trembling Hands’ single from Milan’s militant House asset Benny Benassi.

Following on from a stint of production duties alongisde Chris Brown and Gary Go, Benassi engages the tracks naturally uplifting momentum to craft a seamlessly euphoric canvas throughout his melodic club excavation of the duos summer festival cut. For all the mainstream exploits that Benassi has successfully pursued throughout his career, his remix of ‘Trembling Hands’ is sure to prove a festival favorites amid his various summer commitments in Europe and America throughout the summer season.

Released July 8 via Infectious Music.

Release: Soulmagic – Someone Like You

Despite being more commonly associated with the heavier-set offerings currently doing the rounds on the Scandinavian club circuit, you can rest assured there has always been plenty of talent to be found amidst Denmark’s Deep and Tech House exports. Stepping up to the mark for their undoubtedly biggest summer contender yet, Copenhagen duo Morten Trust and Mikkel Wendelboe are surely bringing justice to their name by donning a hefty dose of their soulful wizardry to make up the latest release off their own label. But with so much talk about selling out and mainstream crossovers, the deep bass, unremitting vocal line and perfectly pitched lead play that comprise Soulmagic’s ‘Someone Like You’ come as a refreshing breathe of air from one of Scandinavia’s most underrated House outfits.

Preview: Crazibiza & Olav Basoski – On The Run [Pornostar]

With well over 10 years worth of contributions to an industry that in recent times has witnessed it ascend to the status of a phenomen planted firmly at the centre of the universe, Olav Basoski’s whopping 23 year long commitment to House music is one of essential properties. Coming off remix duties for Melleefresh and Deadmau5’s ‘Hey Baby‘, Amsterdam-based Basoski joins forces with Hungary’s Crazibiza for a new release off of the Budapest duo’s Pornostar Records. Already brandishing the seal of approval from DMC World’s latest Buzz Chart, ‘On The Run’ showcases a neoteric House concoction of disco vocals, groovy bass, subtle keys and crisp hi-hats for another finely tuned disco-house contender for the Ibiza season.

‘On The Run’ will be released July 10.

Preview: Afrojack – Rock The House [Wall]

Usually found harbouring a bottle vodka behind the decks and more formally noted as The Netherlands’ most vigorous Dance music export to date, Nick Van De Wall has not let the party boy getup mess with his distinct club outings. But not too far from his atypical scatty Dutch stylings, Afrojack emerges with a forward-thinking first instalment from his debut full-length album. While the pitch pervading leads that have characterised his signature sound resonate throughout ‘Rock The House’, the tracks infectious melodic builds and heavyset synth work pull on the heart strings of euphoric Progressive House while still encapsulating the gritty energy more formally associated with Afrojack. Despite all the stereotypes that now surround his craft, Van De Wall sets the anticipation for his debut album to a significant high while showcasing the attributes that have kept him solidly in demand across the globe. ‘Rock The House’ will be released July 16 via his own Wall Recordings.

Preview: Deadmau5 feat. Gerard Way – Professional Griefers [Mau5trap]

As recently given a world premiere spin on Pete Tong’s ”Essential Selection” on BBC Radio 1, the official preview of Deadmau5 ’s long-awaited ‘Professional Griefers’ has at last hit the web. Set for release on September 2nd, the final version of ‘Professional Griefers’ sees the Canadian mau5keteer turned preacher to the button-pushing generation team up with My Chemical Romance lead vocalist Gerard Way in regular Deadmau5 fashion.

Dealing in discordant lead play and mechanic cadence, Joel Zimmerman’s apex forms a deep plunge into the realms of solid modern Electro House to create yet another belter in favor of his affinity for the notably heavier beats. With his second artist album in the pipeline, the aftermath of ‘The Veldt‘ sees him return to his Electro House oriented signature sound to release one of the most long-awaited Deadmau5 offerings to date.

‘Professional Griefers’ will be released September 2nd.

JORDY DAZZ - OMG [PREVIEW]

Already seeing heavy support from the likes of Fedde le Grand and conjuring a #7 spot on the night edition of DMC World’s Ibiza Buzz Chart, ‘OMG’ sees the Tilburg-based producer turn to the tougher beats yet again for a somewhat distinguished blend of rhythmic, heavy-set drum work with blistering chords and soothing interludes.

‘OMG’ will be released on May 28.

NO_ID - THE LEAVE A LIGHT ON MIXTAPE

Launching with a stern transition from their aesthetic opening sequence to their remix of Henrik B’s ‘Leave a Light On‘, the duo leap from dose to dose of modern club fuel with the seamless energy that has fuelled their own studio exploits.

NIKLAS GUSTAVSSON & LUDVIG HOLM – NATURAL THING [RELEASE]

Mirroring Sweden’s currently potent club movements, their expertly fused outing of deeper House grooves and potent lead work make for an exuberant model for forward thinking club music. While its resolutely hypnotic samples and concise rhythmic persuasions tear it apart from the atypical Swedish anthem, its divergence is enough to hone in on the maximal energy and creative integrity boasted by these two fine specimens of Scandinavian talent

.

PRYDA - TIJUANA [PREVIEW]

Initially premiered at Club Space in Miami a few years back, the Pryda single formerly known as the ‘Space Miami ID’ has now been announced to be called ‘Tijuana’. Originally produced back in 2007 while going through the Arizona desert on the way to Las Vegas for his North America tour, the recent announcement plays testament to that of ‘Tijuana’ possibly seeing its final release soon.

THIRD PARTY Vs CICADA - FEEL [ORIGINAL MIX]

FATBOY SLIM - THE BIG BEACH BOOTIQUE

Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim has created an exclusive mix for Metro readers. FULL STORY

The Big Beach Bootique follows late-1990s club institution The Big Beat Boutique and Cook’s infamous beach parties (which he’s hosted around the world), while the site (now home to his beloved Brighton and Hove Albion FC) once contained polytechnic buildings where he studied.

Cook describes his music festival sets as a turning point. ‘We started getting booked to DJ at dance tents in the 1990s and the atmosphere felt more like a rock’n’roll gig,’ he recalls. ‘Ever since then, we’ve been doing our darndest to up the production with lights and visuals. Having been in a band, we do use a few build-up tricks that DJs might not know about; it’s pure showbiz.’

PIERCE FULTON – 10/6 (THAT SHOULD DO IT) / WEST EGG [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Following with the perfect amalgamation of Aphex Twin and early Massive Attack, ‘West Egg’ proves a neurotic installment of solitary leads and eerie atmospheric developments amid its gradually developing energy. On the back of his successive live outings and the previously assumed apex of his musical value, Fulton proves himself the black horse of Electro House with a breathtaking transition from the norms of EDM.

BLENDE - EDITS VOL 1 [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Johan Klereby, better known as Blende, is the next daring producer to venture giving classic jams more modern updates. Always at the forefront when it comes to trying new sounds, Blende takes a modern 70s approach to four 80s classics to kick the first volume of his newly launched series of edit packages off.

ALESSO - CLASH [PREVIEW]

Following up from the vocal remake of collaborative anthem ‘Calling (Lose My Mind)’ alongside Sebastian Ingrosso, the devout Progressive player turns his head back to the heavier-set realms of EDM for ‘Clash’.
